Terms of Service for AMG Editing
Effective Date: March 3, 2025
Welcome to AMG Editing. By engaging my services, you agree to the following Terms of Service (“Terms”). These Terms govern the relationship between you (“Client” or “you”) and Amy Gralewski (“Editor,” “I,” “me,” “we,” or “us”) regarding the provision of academic editing services. Please read these Terms carefully before proceeding.
- Services Provided
I provide academic editing services, including, but not limited to, proofreading, grammar correction, structural feedback, reference list formatting, citation checking, minor table/figure formatting, and other formatting assistance (e.g., school requirements), to support students in refining their academic work. The scope of services will be agreed upon in writing (via email) prior to the start of any project.
- Client Responsibilities
- You represent that all work submitted for editing is your original work, created solely by you.
- You agree to provide clear instructions regarding the scope of editing required and any deadlines.
- You are responsible for ensuring your use of my services complies with your academic institution’s policies, including those on plagiarism and external assistance.
- You will not make any changes to the file once the editing work has begun. Any additional changes will incur an additional fee.
- Originality Clause and Contract Nullification
- Original Work Requirement: You warrant that the work submitted is original and has not been plagiarized, copied, or generated by artificial intelligence tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grok, etc.) unless explicitly disclosed and permitted by your academic institution.
- Discovery of Non-Original Work: If I determine, at my sole discretion, that the work submitted is not original (e.g., through evidence of plagiarism, unattributed sources, or AI generation), I reserve the right to:
- Immediately terminate the editing services without further obligation to you.
- Nullify this contract in its entirety, rendering it void.
- Retain any payments made as compensation for time and resources expended up to the point of discovery.
- Upon such termination, I will notify you in writing (via email) of the reason for nullification and cease all work on your project.
- Fees and Payment
- Editing fees will be agreed upon in advance and outlined in an email.
- A 50% deposit is due upfront before any editing begins. Full payment is due upon completion (before file will be released) via Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal.
- In the event of contract nullification under Section 3, no refunds will be issued for payments already received.
- Confidentiality
- I will treat all submitted work as confidential and will not share it with third parties without your explicit consent, except as required by law or to investigate suspected plagiarism (e.g., using plagiarism detection tools).
- You agree not to submit work containing sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary for the editing process.
- Limitation of Liability
- My role is limited to editing and improving your work. I do not guarantee specific academic outcomes (e.g., grades or publication acceptance).
- I am not responsible for any consequences arising from your submission of non-original work to your institution or other entities.
- Termination
- Either party may terminate this agreement with written notice if the other party breaches these Terms.
- Termination under the Originality Clause (Section 3) supersedes other termination rights and takes immediate effect upon discovery of non-original work.
- Amendments
- I reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. You will be notified of significant changes if they affect an ongoing project.
- Acceptance of Terms
- By making payment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
